Do good, trust in the journey, and good will return.
Damion Thakoer (born 1995) is a photographer with a story that goes beyond images. Growing up in the Netherlands, he quickly realized how tough the world can be for someone who doesn’t fit the usual mold. Setbacks, inequality, and injustice were daily realities — but these experiences fueled his desire to be seen and heard. They shaped him not into a victim, but into a creator.
At thirteen, he discovered photography. A camera felt like something magical — a way to gain control in a world that often excluded him. But his path was far from easy. Through disappointments, exclusion, and missed opportunities, he lost his way. Yet, at eighteen, he chose a new beginning. With the support of director Teemong and rapper Fresku — two people who saw his potential and helped him move forward — he found direction and purpose again.
From that moment on, everything changed. What started as a pure hobby grew into his work — and his way of life. Damion has since been fortunate to work on impressive assignments for well-known clients, also taking on projects abroad.
His photos have reached a wide audience, resonating deeply with many. Damion’s strength lies in his ability to see and capture the smallest details that often go unnoticed. His photography moves, challenges, and connects. He works with passion, sincerity, and the conviction that he is doing something he truly believes in with all his heart and soul.
